We are James and Dawn Eggers
We have four children and six grandchildren between the two of us. We reside in the area of Greenbush, WI
James is a retired teacher from the Milwaukee area; he taught middle school for almost 30 years! Now that's a lot of teaching. James fell in love with working with animals when he took a caretaker's position shortly after retiring. He found that he just loved working with horses and chickens, and he had always been a huge fan of dogs and cats.Besides being retired from teaching, James works as a living historian at the Wade House demonstrating the trades of
blacksmith and sawyer.
Dawn is a former director of community outreach from a local nonprofit. Prior to that she worked at Crossing Rivers Health, and also at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum. She has always had a love for animals and pushes the limits on how many James will let her have! Along with pet sitting Dawn also is a "foodie". She enjoys growing her own vegetable garden and processing what she harvests. Dawn is a self-published children's author. She loves essential oils, and finding holistic ways of healing and maintaining good health.
James and Dawn have quite a few fur babies of their own. Most of them are rescue animals-all are precious members of the family. Some have crossed over the rainbow bridge, but are forever a part of the fabric of life.
AS you can see, we have a passion for animals. We even have pet rules...for example, if a cat is sitting on our legs while in the recliner, we have "cat paralysis". We simply cannot move our legs until the cat decides to move!
For exercise, we have to make sure to take Henry running every day. Who needs a gym?
And for therapy...we make sure to consistently feed, groom, and spend time with our horses each day. (They are boarded down the road from us.) Even when it is below zero, you can find us at the stables caring for our boys.
